Tucson 7-Elevens to Sell Sun Tran Passes

17 locations offering bus tickets

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Starting Friday, December 17, 7-Eleven Inc. began selling select Sun Tran bus passes at all 17 stores throughout the Tucson, Ariz., metropolitan area. Passengers will be able to purchase the full-fare monthly, full-fare stored value and express monthly 24-hours a day at the locations.

For added passenger convenience, pass purchases can be made at 7-Eleven stores with cash, credit or debit cards.

"We are excited about the partnership with 7-Eleven, which will prove very beneficial for our passengers," said Katrina Heineking, Sun Tran general manager. "7[image-nocss] -Eleven is located throughout our community, providing many more options for passengers to purchase bus passes."

Ray Kruckner, market manager for 7-Eleven stores in Arizona, said, "The idea came from our customers who asked that our stores offer this service because many of our locations are near bus stops. Plus our stores in the Phoenix area started selling bus tickets this year, and this has proven to be a popular and convenient service for consumers there."

With the addition of the 7-Eleven stores, there are more than 50 locations for passengers to purchase Sun Tran bus pass products. With the closure of the information booths at Sun Tran's three transit centers, additional pass sales locations are being considered to further enhance passenger convenience.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 8,300 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, it operates, franchises or licenses approximately 39,500 stores in 16 countries. During 2009, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of $58.9 billion.
