Eby-Brown Continues Expansion

Buying convenience assets of Dearborn Wholesale Grocers

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Eby-Brown Co. LLC has announced that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase the assets of Dearborn Wholesale Grocers LP, which is based in Chicago.

A full-service distributor for more than 75 years, Dearborn Wholesale Grocers provides a full range of products and programs. In 1991, Dearborn entered the convenience store distribution business and added a team of convenience store professionals to its staff.

It is the largest independent grocery wholesaler in the Chicago area, serving supermarkets, convenience stores and delis. It carries more than 23,000 different items.

Eby-Brown acquired the assets of convenience store distributor L.A. Edlbeck Co., Green Bay, Wis., in October.
