FAIRFAX, Va. -- The American Wholesale Marketers Association (AWMA) has announced that the 2008 AWMA chairperson is Dick Dunham, vice president of operations, Stephenson Wholesale Co. Inc., Durant, Okla.
"Dick Dunham brings invaluable experience from over 30 years in the convenience and supermarket distribution industry to our board of directors," said AWMA president and CEO Scott Ramminger.
Dunham joined Stephenson Wholesale in 1995 and, prior to that, was employed by Safeway (Texas and California), Von's (California) and Hale-Halsell (Oklahoma). An enthusiastic supporter of industry [image-nocss] and employee associations, he currently serves on the executive board of the Oklahoma Wholesale Marketers Association and the Southern Association of Wholesale Distributors in addition to his AWMA Chairmanship.
AWMA is an international trade organization working on behalf of convenience distributors in the United States. Its distributor members represent more than $85 billion in U.S. convenience product sales. Associate members include manufacturers, brokers, retailers and others allied to the convenience product industry. Typical products purchased and sold by convenience distributors include candy, tobacco, snacks, beverages, health and beauty care items, general merchandise, foodservice and groceries. In addition to c-stores, their largest customer segment, convenience distributors also service grocery stores, drug stores, tobacco shops, mass merchants, newsstands, concession stands, gift shops, fundraising groups, restaurants, institutions and more.
