TOKYO -- Japanese software and gaming company Nippon Ichi Software is rolling out The Combini DS: Otona no Keiei Ryoku Training (The Combini DS: Adult's Management Power Training), a game lets a player become the owner of a chain of convenience stores, according to a report in Wired magazine. "Kombini" in Japanese, usually written as "combini" in English, means "convenience store."
Players manage their way to glory as they fight the advance of rival chains, said the report.
The game is part of a series that has spanned multiple platforms—there was a version released on the [image-nocss] Xbox 360, The Combini 200X. The Nintendo DS version brings with it a few new features, including the ability to easily go through the store's inventory using the system's touch pen.
The game is set for a fall release in Japan, according to Wired.
TheDS Fanboy blog said that there are also town-building elements to the game, with the success of the c-store influencing the growth and wellbeing of the town.
"You maybe get a chance to bully your minimum wage employees about. There'll be no paid overtime or crafty cigarette breaks in the stockroom in our virtual store!" the blog added.
