Rollout will add liquefied natural gas alongside existing diesel fueling lanes

SPRING LAKE, Mich. -- Shell Oil Co. has selected Bennett Pump Co. to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) dispensers for gas stations across the United States.

Earlier this month, Shell and Travel Centers of America (TA) announced the opening of their first LNG station, in Ontario, Calif. This station is the first of the Shell and TA agreement to sell LNG to heavy-duty road transport customers in the United States at TA and Petro fueling centers.

The station is open to the public and features two fueling lanes that provide LNG customers with a familiar fueling experience when using the Bennett LNG dispensers.

The companies will build the remaining LNG stations across North America in a phased approach, based on customer demand at existing truckstop sites, with the intention of adding dispensers alongside existing diesel fueling lanes.

"We are pleased to be a part of this exciting project to put an LNG fueling network in place," said Tom Thompson, president of Bennett Pump Co. "We have worked closely with Shell and their partners to deliver a safe and viable alternative fuel option for long-haul transport."

Bennett offers a full line of dispensers for alternative fuels, including diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), flex fuel (ethanol blends), biodiesel, LNG, CNG and hydrogen.

LNG benefits include lower fuel costs, reduced engine noise levels, improved local air quality and virtually no risk of ground contamination, Bennett Pump said.

Shell, Houston, is a leader in the refining, transportation and marketing of fuels, with a network of approximately 6,000 Shell-branded gas stations in the western United States. Motiva Enterprises LLC, a joint venture between Shell Oil and Saudi Refining Inc., manages another 8,300 Shell-branded stations in the eastern and southern United States.

TravelCenters of America, Westlake, Ohio, is a leading travel center business in 43 states and Canada with 249 locations under the TA and Petro Stopping Centers brands.

Spring Lake, Mich.-based Bennett Pump makes dispensers for most fueling application and is a leader in dispensing and measuring alternative fuels. The company is also a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and component supplier to more than 30 other dispenser manufacturers around the world.
