The sole remaining prize is a Harley-Davidson Iron 883 motorcycle, courtesy of Rutter's and hot dog maker Kunzler & Co. The winner will be chosen from among all of the non-gasoline-winning entries submitted during the contest, which ran from May 25 to August 30.
The six other free-gasoline winners were Lowell Sipe of Red [image-nocss] Lion, Pa.; Brandi Cook of Fayetteville, Pa.; Deb Rohrbaugh of Dallastown, Pa.; Schirl Warner of Windsor, Pa.; April Bortner of York; and Jean Leber of Red Lion.
Each of the winners is chosen through a random drawing. The participating contest sponsors are Pepsi Cola, Coca-Cola, Cadbury Canada Dry, Function Beverage, Snapple, Red Bull, Edy's Grand Ice Cream, Jack and Jill Ice Cream, Nestle Waters NA, Pennsylvania Lottery, Kunzler & Co., S&D Coffee and Rutter's Dairy.
In other company news, Rutter's Children's Charities has announced donations totaling $56,500 to 11 organizations throughout central Pennsylvania that operate food pantries.
The recipients are the York County Food Bank; God's Meal Barrel, Hanover; Hanover Area Council of Churches; Waynesboro Area Human Services Council; First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg; BOPIC Inc., Chambersburg; King's Kettle Food Pantry, Shippensburg; Project Share, Carlisle; Salvation Army, Carlisle; Central Pennsylvania Food Bank; Bethesda Mission, Harrisburg.
Including 2009 contributions, Rutter's charitable giving will top $2 million over the past seven years. Almost all of the contributions benefit children's programs in the communities where the York-based Rutter's companies operate.
"Even as we see signs that the economy is improving, it's still a tough time for nonprofit groups and the people they serve," said Scott Hartman, president of Rutter's Farm Stores. "It's our privilege at Rutter's to help these organizations to fulfill their valuable missions."
Todd Rutter, president of Rutter's Dairy, added, "We feel it's more important than ever for companies such as ours that are successful to give back to the communities that support us. We've chosen these organizations because of their successful track records of providing food to people in need."
Rutter's Children's Charities is the charitable arm of the Rutter's Cos., which comprise Rutter's Farm Stores, Rutter's Dairy and M&G Realty.
