One-quarter believe EVs will have the greatest effect on future demand. Of those retailers who said they are planning to make a change to their fuel offer in 2019, nearly one-fifth plan to add EV charging stations—more than those who plan to add liquid fuels such as ethanol blends.

Also, one-third of Outlook Survey respondents who are planning to make a change to their fuel offering in 2019 say they will upgrade pumps to EuroPay Mastercard Visa (EMV) standards ahead of the October 2020 liability shift.
