LAS VEGAS -- The members of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) recently elected Kevin McKinney, president of McKinney Petroleum Equipment, Mobile, Ala., to serve as president of the organization.

McKinney has most recently served as PEI's vice president. The group elected him during the Institute's 64th annual convention and trade show in Las Vegas, and he will take office Jan. 1, 2015.

McKinney replaces Phil Farrell, president of Double Check Co. Inc., Kansas City, Mo., as president of PEI.

"Kevin has been an active advocate for the Petroleum Equipment Institute and its activities for many years and, as such, will make a great president," said Robert Renkes, PEI's executive vice president. "We look forward to welcoming Kevin to his new position and are convinced that his time as president will provide long-term benefits for PEI and its member companies."

The members elected Steve Trabilsy, president of Accurate Tank Technologies, North Aurora, Ill., to serve as vice president of the organization, and the association's board of directors has appointed Craig Hoyer, president of Kubat Equipment & Service Co., Denver, as PEI's treasurer.

Trabilsy most recently served as PEI's treasurer. He will take office Jan. 1, 2015. Hoyer assumes office immediately.

"Steve and Craig are outstanding leaders and dedicated supporters of the Petroleum Equipment Institute and will make exceptional officers," said Renkes. "We look forward to a productive year and believe both men will play key roles in keeping our association strong and healthy."

Speaking last month to members and officers of PEI, Renkes presented a positive overview of 2013 and 2014 and expressed optimism in the future of the petroleum equipment industry.

"The financial performance of the petroleum equipment industry in 2013 and 2014 was the best since 2008," he said. "Members can expect an even better year in 2015 and the near-term future is even brighter."

He continued, "Next year will be the year the new underground storage tank rules will become known and start to go into effect. EMV will be added inside the store that same year. Coupling those two new requirements with an already strong market lead by the petroleum retailing, commercial refueling and emergency generator segments of the industry leads me to believe that our industry will remain strong in the foreseeable future."

Renkes delivered his remarks to more than 300 PEI members at PEI's annual membership meeting in conjunction with the 2014 PEI Convention at the NACS Show in Las Vegas.
