E85 Crops up in Alabama

Blender pumps adds at two Sun Valley stores

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. -- E85 fuel, a mixture of ethanol and gasoline, is now available to consumers and private fleets in Southeastern Alabama who own and operate Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV). Inland, a subsidiary of Southwest Georgia Oil Co., has replaced all of its dispensers at their SunValley Market stores in Enterprise and Dothan, Ala., with new blender dispensers.

The new dispensers offer the traditional regular, midgrade and premium gasoline products, and now E85. The new dispensers also have the ability to offer another ethanol-blended fuel at a later date.

These two [image-nocss] sites are the first in Alabama to have E85 available from all of its dispensers, according to the company, giving drivers of FFVs the ability to fuel with E85 from any dispenser.

"We are proud to be a part of the solution," COO of Inland Stores Aaron Goodman said. "We recognize, and we believe the public also understands, the value that domestically produced alternative fuels and the monumental impact it has in protecting the environment and growing local, state and national economies. Ethanol used at both Alabama sites is produced at the First United Ethanol LLC's plant located just across the Alabama-Georgia border in Camilla, Ga., less than 100 miles away."

According to Goodman, the lower price of E85 as compared to gasoline will provide immediate price advantages to owners of FFVs. Additionally, owners who care about the environment, care about national security, care about fuel produced in America, will see the greater benefits and advantages of using ethanol-blended fuels, he said.

Goodman also noted that support from Bosselman BioFuels Solutions, Alabama Clean Cities Coalition, Growth Energy, Alabama Soybean and Corn Association, and First United Ethanol LLC were all key to establishing these new E85 fueling site.

Based in Bainbridge, Ga., Inland Stores owns and operates 17 SunValley Market & Deli convenience stores in southern Alabama and plans to continue adding E85 capabilities to more of its locations.

Bosselman Energy Inc. is a multi-state distributor of fuels, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, denaturants, and lube products. The renewable fuels division was established in 2004 and has grown to be a leader in the wholesale and marketing areas of ethanol, natural gasoline and fuels.
