MILFORD, Conn. -- In August and September, Subway franchisees opened more than 400 new locations in 44 countries, 36 U.S. states and seven Canadian provinces, bringing the total number of Subway restaurants to just over 35,300 locations in 98 countries. The Subway chain is also a leader in the nontraditional development category. Some of the chain's recent openings include restaurants at more than 30 convenience stores and 28 college campuses.
Subway restaurants that have opened in U.S. and Canadian convenience store, truckstop and travel center facilities during August and September include:

During this time, the chain also announced the opening of five new "green" Subway Eco-Restaurants. Now with a total of 14 such locations, each are designed with environmentally friendly elements to reduce energy, water and waste consumption in cost effective ways.
