Maverik Names Foodservice Supplier of the Year

Winner was instrumental in developing coffee barista program

SALT LAKE CITY -- Convenience-store chain Maverik named Boyd’s Coffee its foodservice supplier of the year. Boyd’s helped Maverik elevate its coffee platform and introduce its first barista program at Maverik’s flagship location in downtown Salt Lake City.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition from one of our customers and believe we match Maverik’s mission of going beyond the ordinary to deliver exemplary customer service and innovation,” said Jeffrey Newman, CEO of Boyd’s Coffee.

Prior to launching the barista cafe, teams from both Boyd’s and Maverik “went on an origin trip to gain a deeper understanding and connection with where their coffee comes from,” the company said.

“The Boyd’s team was integral in the installation, training and execution of the barista program,” said Lauren Hancey, category manager for Maverik. “Not only did they plan every piece of the Maverik trip to the coffee region of Colombia, but they took the journey with us and gave valuable insight, allowing us to experience the sights and sounds and experiences in one of the most exciting coffee regions.”

Founded in 1900 in Portland, Ore., Boyd’s supplies coffee, tea and other beverages to convenience stores, restaurants and hotels.

With more than 300 c-stores, Salt Lake City-based Maverik ranked No. 30 on CSP's 2017 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
