John Clark Oil Opens 7th Krispy Krunchy

Replaces KFC; company tanker truck features wraparound

GREENUP, Ky. -- John Clark Oil Co. opened its seventh Krispy Krunchy Chicken outlet on May 24 in its Clark's Pump-N-Shop in Greenup, Ky., said Brian Unrue, director of operations for John Clark Oil. The Ashland, Ky.-based oil company has a total of 65 retail locations.

"By far the sales here have been way above our projections. The site used to host a KFC. The good news is there are Krispy Krunchy Barn Boxes leaving by the armload. As we continue to enter the fast-food side of things, we will continue to partner with the Krispy Krunchy brand."

He added, "We also have [image-nocss] one of our tankers totally wrapped in the Krispy Krunchy logo. This tanker travels the interstates of Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio."

Jonesville, La.-based Krispy Krunchy Chicken is having a record-breaking year with 125 locations opened since the beginning of 2011, said the company, a leader in quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 600 retail locations in 14 states.

Krispy Krunchy features Cajun-style chicken that is always fried in zero trans fat oil with pizza, as well as cajun chicken tenders, jambalaya, Boudin Bites (Cajun rice balls), catfish and honey butter biscuits. It offers a completely customized program with no franchisee or royalty fees, designed to give operators a professional and branded image with the ability to deliver quality food to their customers at a low price. The branded look includes a full graphics package, layout, design and scale drawings. The program may also be co-branded with another food program and use existing onsite equipment. Krispy Krunchy Foods provides complete training and support programs. It also offers the KK's Pizza Express and Sunrise Breakfast programs.
