PHILADELPHIA -- V Marks the Shop LLC has launched a round of crowdfunding through Kickstarter.com to create an all-vegan convenience store in Philadelphia.
The purpose is to bring a message of “Community. Compassion. Convenience” to the City of Brotherly Love by selling 100% vegan and cruelty-free products, ranging from food to home goods. The goal is to raise $50,000 by Jan. 1, 2016.
The team behind V Marks the Shop consists of vegan bloggers Carmella Lanni and Carlo Giardina, aka The Food Duo.
“Philly embraces diversity, so we embrace Philly," said Carlo Giardina. "This is why we want to set new roots in this city for ourselves and for the store. Philadelphia is seeing veganism at work from food to community. That energy is what we want to capture in the store.”
V Marks the Shop is using the Kickstarter campaign as an online and offline social community effort to create the store as a meeting place for vegans and non-vegans alike.
Pledges will go solely towards the development of the store in Philadelphia. Four neighborhoods are in consideration for the store, which will also host community-based events.
An online store, vmarkstheshop.com, is in the works to connect Philadelphians interested in vegan living to a global community.
V Marks the Shop will be a convenience “store for everyone,” they said, offering 100% vegan and cruelty-free food and home goods. The mission of the store is rooted in community, compassion and convenience to bring together vegans and non-vegans alike.
