Chester Chicken Goes to Hawkeye Country

Creekside Market in Iowa City is newest location

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Fried chicken foodservice program provider Chester's International Inc. has announced the grand opening of its newest location in Iowa City, Iowa. Creekside Market celebrated the opening of its new Chester's on March 27.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in honor of the grand opening. Chester the Chicken was on hand for the opening to assist in the festivities, and to pose for pictures with his local fans, employees and spring breakers.

"My two biggest reasons I wanted a branded food program in my store was brand recognition and training," said [image-nocss] Ryan Fuller, owner of the Creekside Market. "Chester's has exceeded my expectations in both."

Chester's signature menu options including fried bone-in chicken, chicken tenders, potato wedges and biscuits will now be offered at the Creekside Market. The newest Chester's location will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; and will offer customers dine-in, carryout and catering options.

"Operators are realizing more and more the endless potential of foodservice sales. Everyone sells candy bars, gas, and snacks but not everyone sells Fresh Fried Chicken," said James Venable, director of foodservice operations for Chester's.

Birmingham, Al.-based Chester's is an emerging leader of quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 1,500 Chester Fried licensed and Chester's franchised locations. Along with its chicken and other products, Chesters offers flexible size and store layout options, training and support. Chester's uses only chicken that is specially marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.
