Where the Gains Are

C-store sales, 52 weeks ending Dec. 28, 2014

Sales of canned juice and fruit drinks in c-stores rose by double digits in 2014, but growth in the other subsegments was more modest.

Some of the strongest increases in the past year came from refrigerated smoothies, canned juice drinks and shelf-stable bottled fruit drinks, according to IRI.

Cross-Category Opportunity

According to a 2014 analysis of c-store retail POS data by Management Science Associates, juice and juice drinks were the No. 3 most purchased item in a cigar market basket, ranking just behind carbonated soft drinks and premium cigarettes.
