Sign changes reflect merger

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Trade Mart stores are getting a new look, according to a report by the Rocky Mount Telegram.

New signs changing the name to Trade-Wilco have been erected at some stations, said the report, and other stations are waiting for the changeover, which follows the June 1 merger between the Greenville, N.C.-based Trade Oil Co. and Winston-Salem, N.C.-based WilcoHess LLC.

The merged company will be headquartered in Winston-Salem.

The company recently remodeled our store on Raleigh Street, [image-nocss] a station spokesperson told the newspaper. New signs also were put up.

Shaunacey Barnes, a cashier at the Trade Mart in Sharpsburg, said the store will be changed to a Trade-Wilco. They haven't gotten to us yet, she told the paper.

As reported in CSP Daily News, WilcoHess announced the merger with Trade Oil Co. on June 1.

Trade Oil was founded in 1984 by Walter Williams, its president, and operates 101 convenience stores throughout Eastern North Carolina.

The WilcoHess company was formed in 2001 when the A.T. Williams Oil Co., formed in 1963, merged with Amerada Hess as a joint venture company. WilcoHess LLC was founded April 1, 2001. WilcoHess acquired 50 former Service Distributors in January 2004, according to the company's website. The company has more than 300 stores in seven states.
