Third Time the Charm

Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes manager wins $25,000

CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- At its recent holiday luncheon for corporate managers and staff, Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes Inc. has announced the winners of the 2006 Managers' Contest.

In previous years, the grand prize had been a new vehicle. This year the top prize was $25,000. The winner of that prize was Rachel Henry, manager of the chain's Tully, N.Y., store.

The contest is comprised of rankings from the corporate manager's report card, a monthly balanced scorecard that includes margin growth, labor control, cash and inventory control [image-nocss] and image factors.

John MacDougall, president of Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, presented the $25,000 to the winner. Rachel has been one of our best managers for years, he said. It's great to see her win this. She more than deserves it.

Runner up for two years, Rachel was glad the third time was the charm.

It's a thrill to be in the running for the prize, but it sure can be a nerve-wracking day, said Henry. And Fran likes to keep us guessing.

Fran Duskiewicz, senior executive vice president, said, We always arrange the scoring so that ultimately the winner is determined by the mystery shopper score. This year, Rachel's performance was so dominating that she could not be denied.

The $3,000 second-place prize went to Jeff Chatigny of Montezuma, N.Y.; $2,000 third-place cash to David Gee of Waterloo, N.Y.; and $1,000 to Theresa Chavious of Taunton, N.Y.

Canastota, N.Y.-based Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes is a leading convenience store chain operating more than 80 stores throughout the state of New York.
