Road Ranger Buys Six QuikTrips

Rebranding of Cedar Rapids-area units under way

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Travel center and convenience store retailer Road Ranger LLC has acquired six former QuikTrip c-stores in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, market, reported The Cedar Rapids Gazette.

Five of the locations are in Cedar Rapids, one is in Marion, Iowa, according to Road Ranger's website.

The transformation of the former QuikTrip stores to Road Rangers began last Wednesday, said the report, and will take about 2-1/2 weeks, Kyle Beilke, construction superintendent for Rockford, Ill.-based Road Ranger, told the newspaper.[image-nocss]

Road Ranger, like QuikTrip, sells unbranded gas under its own name.

Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip disclosed plans to sell the six locations last year because of a new company strategy of focusing exclusively on large urban markets, the report said.

Since it was founded by Daniel Arnold in 1984, Road Ranger has grown to more than 50 Midwestern locations. The company is a privately held limited liability corporation. Its stock is owned by Arnold and First Rockford Group.
