RaceTrac companion brand seeking operators in Tennessee
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- RaceWay is building three convenience stores in Hamilton County, Tenn., and is looking for a local businessman to operate the sites, reported The Chattanooga Times Free Press.

"We would love to have a local operator in all three sites and are actively seeking applicants," Phil Gura, vice president of legal and general counsel, told the newspaper.

The stores will be on Signal Mountain Road, on Amnicola Highway and on Hixson Pike at a site that has not been announced.

Work will start on the first site on May 5, and construction [image-nocss] should take about five months, Gura said. Earth-moving work has begun on the Amnicola site.

The stores will use RaceWay's newest design with a masonry exterior and a new interior, Gura added. The inside product offerings will be determined by the local operator, based on each neighborhood's needs, he said.

"Tailoring the offer to the community is key to RaceWay's success," Gura said.

Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. owns RaceWay sites and leases the inside operations to independent operators, said the report. A person may operate only one RaceWay at a time and cannot operate another convenience store at the same time, according to the newspaper, citing the RaceWay website. A $50,000 deposit is required within three days of being selected as an operator, and the initial investment is $100,000 to buy equipment and inventory.
