MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- QuickChek Corp.’s new Monroe Township, N.J., convenience store—its 150th as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year—is the first to incorporate the chain’s new fresh-convenience concept that embraces the dining habits of millennial consumers.
"What QuickChek continues to work on is to redefine convenience," QuickChek CEO Dean Durling told MyCentralJersey.com at the 5,496-square-foot store's soft opening on Aug. 29. "This is our latest prototype. Our new design focuses on fresh and particularly fresh food.”
Here are the details …
The new store is open 24 hours a day. Embracing the dining habits of today’s millennial consumer, the store features indoor seating counters that offer phone and laptop charging stations and free Wi-Fi. It also features self-checkout counters and an expanding mobile-ordering menu.
"Millennials love QuickChek, and we want to continue to market toward millennials,” Durling told the news outlet. “I aspire to be a millennial. But, I'm not. I've got an iPhone, I'm on Instagram, but I know I'm not. So, I think if you build a store that satisfies millennials today, it's aspirational for all of us. The store markets and merchandises to everyone. That is who we are and where we are heading."
The sleek, open layout features earth-tone colors, cleaner sightlines and expansive aisles with spacious food stations including extensive displays of freshly made QuickChek grab-and-go food and market items, fresh baked goods made in-store, and a large standalone soup station offering a daily rotation of freshly prepared soups.
Along with the chain’s made-to-order breakfast items, handcrafted, oven-toasted, fresh QuickChek subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads and personalized hot and cold beverages, the new foodservice menu includes QuickChek cold-brew coffee and six new varieties of QuickChek signature chicken sandwiches: Classic Home Style Breaded Chicken, Classic Spicy Breaded Chicken, and Diablo Deluxe Breaded Chicken with ghost-pepper sauce, served regular or deluxe style, on a brioche roll.
QuickChek stores also provide local one-stop shopping, offering a variety of grocery and market items. Amenities in the new store include no-fee ATMs, indoor seating for 10 people and outdoor seating for eight, eight gasoline pumping stations and 57 parking spaces.
Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based QuickChek has 150 c-stores throughout New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Long Island in New York. The chain ranked No. 47 on CSP's 2017 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
