KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Pilot Travel Centers LLC was one of the recipients of the 2007 Keystone Award from the Clay County, Mo., Economic Development Council.
It was honored for completing construction of a 9,538-square-foot combination convenience store and Taco Bell at the corner of I-35 and Missouri Highway 92. The project by the Knoxville, Tenn.-based retailer created 45 new jobs.
Nearly 20 businesses and organizations were honored for their significant contribution to Clay County's economy.
The recipients [image-nocss] included companies new to the area, as well as existing firms that have increased their commitment to Clay County through job creation, capital improvements, expansions, new equipment or technology.
Prior to the awards, EDC President John Engelmann noted the record-setting growth realized in Clay County. Their efforts represented more than $81 million in new construction and expansion.
Pilot owns and operates more than 281 travel centers in 40 states coast to coast.
