NACS Names New Board, Committee Members

Hartman leads 2006 slate of officers

LAS VEGAS -- The National Association of Convenience Stores announced the election of its 2006 Executive Committee at the association's board meeting on Nov. 18 during the NACS Show 2005 in Las Vegas.

Scott Hartman, president of York, Pa.-based CHR Corp., which operates 50 Rutter's Farm Stores in Pennsylvania, was named 2006 chairman of the board of NACS. Hartman also chairs NACS' Executive Committee, which provides strategic direction and financial oversight to the association.

Sam Turner, president of Calfee Co. of [image-nocss] Dalton Inc., was named treasurer and chairman-elect for NACS. In this position, Turner will succeed Hartman as NACS chairman of the board for a term that will commence in October 2006.

Also named to the NACS Executive Committee were Sonja Hubbard, CEO of Texarkana, Texas-based E-Z Mart Stores. Inc., who was elected NACS vice chairman of government relations; Jeff Miller, president of Norfolk, Va.-based Miller Oil Co. Inc., who was elected vice chairman of industry relations; Richard Oneslager, CEO of Denver-based Balmar Petroleum/First Hand Management LLC, who was re-elected vice chairman of research and development; and Bob Richard, president of Perrysburg, Ohio-based J.F. Enterprises, who was re-elected vice chairman of NACSPAC.

Meanwhile, NACS also announced the election of eight new retailer members to its Board of Directors during the NACS Show 2005.

NACS is lead by a 42-member Board of Directors. Forty industry retailers are elected to the board, including two retailers from non-North American countries. In addition, the chairman and chairman-elect of the NACS Supplier Board serve on the Board of Directors. Each member of the board also will serve on one of the association's three board committees. Here are the new board members, listed by board committee:

Government Relations Board Committee

Jinger Duryea, president of South-Paris, ME-based C.N. Brown Co.

Gil Moore, president and CEO of Sacramento, CA-based New West Petroleum.

Industry Relations Board Committee

David Podeschi, senior vice president of merchandising and logistics with Dallas-based 7-Eleven Inc.

Bruce Rosengarten, global vice president-retail marketing of Shell Eastern Petroleum in Singapore.

Nichole Torsey, president of Redding, CA-based Mt. Counties Supply Co.

Lynn Wallis, president and CEO of Cuba, MO-based Wallis Cos.

Jerry Westgate, co-president of Muskegon, MI-based WESCO, Inc.

Research and Development Board Committee

Patrick J. Lewis, partner of Twin Falls, ID-based Oasis Stop 'N Go Convenience Stores.
