MCCOMB, Miss. — Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores Inc. has entered into a franchise agreement with Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) providing for a new-build KOA campground, McComb KOA Journey, in McComb, Miss. It will be Love’s entrance into the campground market.

Founded in 1964 and based in Oklahoma City, Love’s has more than 550 locations in 41 states that offers professional drivers and motorists fuel, food and convenience. The Love’s family of companies also includes Love’s Hospitality, a network of hotels and storage rental locations.

“As we began to consider adding camping to our portfolio of hospitality offerings, KOA just made sense,” said Kevin McCarthy, director of special projects for Love’s. “Both Love’s and KOA have a nearly 60-year track record of being at the forefront of their industries. We really think the combined expertise of these brands makes for a powerful partnership.”

The companies expect McComb KOA Journey, currently in the development stage, to open by the end of the year.

“We are thrilled to have Love’s Travel Stops join the KOA family of campgrounds,” said Larry Brownfield, KOA senior director of franchise development. “We know that with the power of the KOA brand and Love’s history of proving quality amenities and services to motorists, this new campground will be a resounding success.”

KOA is the world’s largest system of open-to-the-public campgrounds with 525 locations across the United States and Canada. Its family of campground brands—KOA Journey, KOA Holiday and KOA Resort—offer sites and amenities designed for every type of camping experience. The company was founded in 1962 in Billings, Mont.

Oklahoma City-based Love’s has more than 550 locations in 41 states. Founded in 1964, the company remains family-owned and operated. And it has more than 410 truck service centers, which include Speedco and Love’s Truck Care locations. Love's Hospitality, a hotel management company, has 19 hotels in 13 states. It manages brands such as Sleep Inn & Suites, Best Western Plus, Fairfield by Marriott, MainStay Suites, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Comfort Inn & Suites, Suburban Extended Stay and Mictrotel Inn & Suites.
