HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- “They’re open 24-seven, 365 days a year.” So begins the History Channel’s fascinating look at the convenience-store industry and how it operates in an episode of its series “Modern Marvels.”

Among the chains featured in “Modern Marvels: Convenience Stores” are 7-Eleven, QuickChek and Wawa, as well as several smaller chains and mom-and-pop shops.
