ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The NACS Foundation is encouraging retailer and supplier partners to celebrate the convenience-store industry’s 24/7 commitment to the communities they serve and to recognize frontline workers, first responders, medical personal and American Red Cross Volunteers for 24/7 Day.

The annual event, which takes place on July 24, is in its third year. Retailers can get involved by creating their own campaign to help first responders or donate to the NACS Foundations Response Relief program.

Campaigns include promotions for first responders on July 24, and include free items a fountain beverage and free coffee or a discount on fuel according to the NACS website.

C-store chains including Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz, Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Co. are among those participating this year, NACS said.

“Convenience stores are essential businesses, not just for the items they sell and the convenience they provide, but also for what retailers and their teams mean to their community,” said Stephanie Sikorski, executive director of the NACS Foundation. “We are proud to celebrate local heroes during this year’s 24/7 Day celebration."

Founded in 1961 as the National Association of Convenience Stores, NACS is a global trade association dedicated to advancing convenience and fuel retailing, with more than 1,500 retailer and 1,500 supplier members from more than 50 countries. The U.S. convenience store industry, with more than 150,000 stores nationwide selling fuel, food and merchandise, serves 165 million customers daily and had sales of $548 billion in 2020.
