MATAWAN, N.J. -- BP and Gill Energy, a petroleum retailer and wholesaler based in Matawan, N.J., donated $12,500 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund on the storm’s one year anniversary. The fund, which has awarded more than $25 million to 93 nonprofit organizations, is specifically geared towards New Jersey relief and recovery efforts.
“We were honored to donate to such a valuable cause. This was a way for us to provide help to our neighbors and victims of Hurricane Sandy,” said Bikram Gill, CEO of Gill Energy.
The fund, a 501(c)(3) independent non-profit organization, is chaired by New Jersey’s First Lady Mary Pat Christie. U.S. Senator Bill Bradley serves as honorary vice-chair. A number of New Jersey-rooted celebrities, including Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Kelly Ripa, Kevin Jonas and Dr. Mehmet Oz also serve as Honorary Advisory Board members to help promote and assist the fund.
“We are delighted to count Gill Energy among our supporters. Their generous financial gift will help New Jersey families, businesses and communities rebuild in the wake of the worst disaster in our state’s history,” said Christie.
Gill Energy is a branded dealer and wholesaler for BP, ExxonMobil, Sunoco and 76. The firm owns and operates more than 40 retail sites and supplies more than 100 branded and unbranded dealer locations.
