LAS VEGAS -- Plaid Pantry has teamed up energy drink company Xyience, the maker Xenergy, to launch the UFC Fly Away Sweepstakes on November 1. Xenergy is the official energy drink of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The text message-based contest runs through December 31.
The winner receives a weekend for two in Las Vegas that includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations and a pair of tickets to a future UFC event. Xyience and Plaid Pantry and Xyience will also award an Xbox game console with a "UFC Undisputed" video game to the second-place winner and a Pay-Per-View gift card along with a $100 gift card for party supplies to the third-place winner.
No purchase necessary to enter, although winners must be legal residents of the United States and at least 18 years old with valid proof of age. Details on how to enter can be found in Plaid Pantry retail locations. Winners will be selected at random and announced in January.
Beaverton, Ore.-based Plaid Pantry is a 105-store convenience store chain with locations in Oregon and Washington.
Xyience also announced the winners of its summer sweepstakes with Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip Corp. in Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas as well as another promotion with independent convenience stores throughout the United States. Both text-message based contests ran from June 1 through August 31, 2011.
Winners of the QuikTrip sweepstakes include grand prize winner Jeff Upchurch of Gilbert, Ariz., who received a pair of 400cc ATV four wheelers and a trailer. The second place winner was Brandon McKee of Broken Arrow, Okla., who received a Vespa scooter. Three additional winners--Everado Martinez, Marijane Green and Richard Anderson, all from Kansas--each received a UFC getaway weekend for two in Las Vegas that includes hotel accommodations, airfare and a pair of tickets to UFC 141 on December 30 at the MGM Grand.
The grand prize winner of the national independent retailer sweepstakes was Michael Sidelko of Oceanside, Calif. He will receive roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations for two in Las Vegas along with tickets to UFC 141.
