BOSTON — Ready-to-drink alcohol increased its share of beverages ordered on alcohol delivery app Drizly over Labor Day weekend.

The Boston-based company reported that RTD drinks have been on the rise this year and the segment’s share increased from 4% to 7% year-over-year on the app.

High Noon Hard Seltzer, from Modesto, Calif.-based E. & J. Gallo Winery, and Cutwater, from San Diego, Calif.-based Cutwater Spirits, retained their positions as the top RTD brands from Labor Day weekend 2020. On the Rocks Premium Cocktails, from Chicago, Ill.-based Beam Suntory Inc., came in third.

Beer’s category share declined this year over Labor Day weekend. It was down from 21% in 2020 to 18% in 2021, Drizly said. Hard seltzer—the best-selling beer segment on Drizly—lost one percentage point share year-over-year. White Claw, from Chicago-based Mark Anthony Brands; Truly, from Boston-based The Boston Beer Co.; and Bud Light Seltzer from St. Louis, Mo.-based Anheuser-Busch remained the top three hard-seltzer brands year-over-year.

There were several new entrants to the top 10 brands ordered over the long weekend on the Drizly app, including Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, from Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Co., and Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Cacti Hard Seltzer.

While nonalcohol beer is a small portion of the total beer category, it saw significant growth over Labor Day weekend, up from 0.4% share in 2020 to 1% share in 2021 on Drizly.
